RETURNED TO DPA
RETURNED TO DPA — For nearly six months, there has been an exhibit missing at Discovery Park of America. In August, the Blue Angel flight demonstration plane that had been on display at Discovery Park of America since 2014 was removed for restoration. It was returned to DPA last week where Jeff Greene of Blue Steel, a Kentucky business, worked to make sure it was properly placed on a new post. Owned by the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fla., the eye-catching blue and yellow flying machine is one of what was a new breed of fighter aircraft introduced into military service in 1954. Grumman built 200 of the F11F/F-11 supersonic, single-seat carrier-based planes. The last of its kind was delivered to the U.S. Navy in 1959. David Ursery (not pictured) of Union City was tasked with refurbishing the airplane, which is on display in STEM Landing.
