Man arrested for cocaine by Martin Police Department

Jackson Whaley
On Jan. 1 at approximately 12:32 a.m., Patrolman Cory Sparks with the Martin Police Department was doing foot patrol in the parking lot of the bars located on Church Street when he came into contact with 21-year-old Jackson Davis Whaley who was sitting in a black Chevy Malibu with a bag of white powdery substance in his possession.
Sparks had Whaley open the door to the vehicle and asked him what he had in his hand and Whaley stated that it was cocaine and that it belonged to him.
Sparks took the white powdery substance, believed to be Schedule II/cocaine into evidence and performed a field test to determine what the substance was. The substance did test positive for cocaine and was taken into evidence.
The total amount of cocaine seized was 1.73 grams. Whaley was placed under arrest and charged with possession of schedule II. He was transported to the Martin Police Department without incident for booking procedures.
