Greenfield man charged with 15 counts of reckless endangerment
On Dec. 27 dispatch advised Patrolman Jeff Mathews with Greenfield Police Department of shots being fired at 206 Broad Street. Mathews and Deputy Gavin Elam arrived at the residence and knocked on the front door and then went to the rear door where several shots were heard fired from inside the residence which put officers in fear of their safety.
After making contact with the tenant of the residence, 46-year-old William Cannon, via phone-he was ordered to exit the residence with his hands open and visible. Cannon complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
When clearing the residence there were 15 bullet holes found inside the residence in the floors and walls. There was also several empty bottles of whiskey on the floor.
Cannon stated that he was upset over a personal matter and drank a little and shot a few rounds.
Cannon has been charged with 15 counts of reckless endangerment, possession of a handgun while under the influence and two counts of aggravated assault.
