FEEDING FRIENDS

FEEDING FRIENDS — Volunteers worked steadily last week to distribute groceries during the annual Feeding of the 5,000 at the Obion County Fairgrounds in Union City, where the Refuge Church meets. The day-long event prior to Thanksgiving included the distribution of 1,500 bags of groceries and dozens of winter coats which had been donated, followed by the Thanksgiving Soul Food Café evening meal. Both were free to anyone in the community who would benefit. The Obion County Ministerial Association has sponsored the effort in recent years in conjunction with the Refuge Church, which meets at the fairgrounds, and with the support of other churches, organizations, schools, businesses and individuals throughout the community. Feeding of the 5,000 is based on the biblical account of the miracle of Jesus feeding a multitude.
