Dresden woman arrested on drug charges

Bree Hoffmeyer
Story by Senior Investigative Reporter Shannon Taylor
On Nov. 11, K9 Officer Thomas Travis with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, stopped a blue Toyota due to the front seat passenger not wearing a seatbelt. Thomas observed the vehicle leaving a known narcotics area.
When Thomas made contact with the individuals, he asked consent to search the vehicle, which the driver granted. Thomas retrieved a backpack from the backseat area and Bree Hoffmeyer advised that he would find “points” and “steaks” in the backpack.
A search of the backpack revealed approximately 1.52 grams of a white crystal substance believed to be meth, one syringe that had a black/purple unknown substance inside, seven more syringes that were empty but had a crystalized substance inside/on them, 1.18 grams of a green plant-like substance believed to be marijuana and a meth pipe.
Hoffmeyer was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule II, possession of Schedule VI and drug paraphernalia. Hoffmeyer was booked into the Weakley County Detention Center.
