ARTISTIC ABILITY

ARTISTIC ABILITY — Union City High School senior Art Club members Ciara Gordon (left) and Toni Armstrong were among a group of 21 from the school who recently competed in Discovery Park of America’s fifth annual Canstruction Jr. Competition. The competition was open to local students ages 10-18. Each team designed a 3-D structure using only canned goods and other limited, approved materials. They had a three-hour time frame to complete their sculptures, which were then judged. UCHS won honorable mention in the Best Meal category and in the Most Creative category. Sponsors for the event were Bill and Carol Latimer Foundation, Ben E. Keith Foods, Searcy Contractors, Union City Energy Authority and Leaders Credit Union.
