Martin man charged with aggravated assault

On Oct. 30 at around 7:11 p.m., Deputy Seth Callens with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department received a call for a disturbance at 5309 Hyndsver Road in Martin. When Callens arrived he spoke with the victim, a juvenile, and the mother, Elizabeth Witherspoon.

The victim stated that he and his stepbrother, Shawn Miller, were in a physical altercation after a verbal argument and said that Miller choked him and scratched his side. Marks on the victim correlated his story.

After Callens spoke with Miller about the incident, he told the same story as the victim and admitted to choking the victim after the argument. Miller was placed under arrest and transported to Weakley County Jail and charged with aggravated assault.
