Gleason man charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault

Auston Hatler

Story by Press Reporter Shannon Taylor

Gleason resident Auston Hatler, 27 years old, was arrested Oct. 17 in Martin after Dep. Brandyn Brown responded to a call on 2715 Old Troy Road for trespassing.

Through Brown’s investigation, he determined that Hatler unlawfully entered the premises without permission and held a knife to the victim’s throat while threatening to kill the victim.

The victim advised Brown that Hatler came to look for his girlfriend but that the victim did not know where Hatler’s girlfriend was. This was reinforced by another witness who also responded to the trespassing and heard multiple threats and was able to disarm Hatler.

The incident occurred in Weakley County and the victim’s name has not been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing according to Weakley County Sheriff Terry McDade.

Hatler was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. This is a developing story.
