Larry was born on March 25, 1944, in Kenton, to the late Mary Oma and Paul Nichols. Larry attended Union City High School and played in the band and lettered in football. He married Barbara Hays Nichols in 1964. They had three children, Lauri, Blake and Drew. Larry and Barbara had just celebrated their 58th anniversary prior to his death.
Larry had a very full and varied life. He bought livestock for Reelfoot Packing and Tennessee Producers. He was a professional photographer and owned a flower shop. Olive Baptist Church in the Crystal community for 21 years and was an interim pastor for five years at Oak Street Community Church. After his retirement, Larry was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church of Union City. He loved sharing the Lord with everyone he met.
