Evelyn Phillips

Mrs. Evelyn Phillips, age 80, of Martin, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Everyone is asked to wear a mask for the visitation and funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Frank Parrish, Jason Parrish, Bryan Bolton, Jerrod Nelms, Jason Nelms and Ronnie Nelms. Evelyn was born on March 7, 1941 to the late Ed A. and Neatie G. Henderson Hicks. She grew up in Water Valley, Kentucky and lived most of her life in the Fulton, Kentucky and South Fulton area. She was affectionately known by her grandkids as “Granny and Mamaw Evelyn.” While she enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading, her family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her children, Melissa (Ronnie) Nelms of South Fulton and Stacey Phillips Chamberlain of Hermitage; three grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Nelms of Tallahassee, Florida, Jerrod (Jamie) Nelms of Lakeland, Florida and Noah Chamberlain of Hermitage; seven great-grandchildren, Audrey, Lucy, Drew, Emma Nelms, all of Lakeland, Adaline, Leo and Maggie Nelms, all of Tallahassee; and a brother, Eddie (Miriam) Hicks of Fulton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, William Castleman; and her second husband; Tony Phillips; and three sisters, Nadine Brewington, Ruella Pruett and Faye Price.
