James Moore
James O. Moore, age 93, a resident of Martin, passed away on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at Vanderbilt Wilson Medical Center in Lebanon.
James was born on Feb. 1, 1932, in Como to the late James M. Moore and Olive Miller Moore.
Mr. Moore was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later owned and operated Jim Moore Associates in Martin as an Insurance Financial Planner until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Janice (Danny) Moore Truett of Huntington and Debbie (Roger) Brasfield of Martin; four grandchildren, Justin (Lucy) Truett of Medina, Dr. Ginger (Gabe) Thomas of Chattanooga, James (Paige) Brasfield of Medina and Chris (Courtney) Brasfield of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren, Beckham Truett of Medina, Harper Thomas of Chattanooga, Izzy Thomas of Chattanooga, Hallie Brasfield of Medina, Dane Brasfield of Medina, Kellen Brasfield of Chattanooga; and one brother, Kenneth (Janice) Moore of Dresden.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Barclay Moore.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. in our funeral chapel, and on Sunday, January 11, from noon until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Murphy Funeral Home.
Bro. Darrin Reynolds will officiate.
Burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Pallbearers will be Justin Truett, James Brasfield, Chris Brasfield, Gabe Thomas, Mark Rushing, and Ben Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Burger King Coffee Club, Dane Brasfield and Beckham Truett.
