FIERY CRASH

FIERY CRASH — The wet, charred and barely recognizable remains of a semi rig were removed by a Buddy’s Wrecker Service crew from the Obion River bridge on U.S. Highway 51, south of Obion between there and Trimble, after a fiery crash that occurred about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday on the bridge. Limited details were available this morning, but in its preliminary report, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash involved a 1998 Kenworth W900L driven by Billy A. Agee, 48, of Springfield, Ohio. The rig apparently caught fire upon impact with the bridge, and the THP reported there were two different secondary crashes — both involving pickup trucks — caused by the initial crash. Amazingly, no injuries were reported in the early-morning rainy incident. Agee has been charged with a due care violation, according to the THP.
