James Evans

James Ray Evans Sr., 79 passed away peacefully at his daughter’s residence on Jan. 2, 2022.
Ray was born on March 9, 1942 in Tiptonville to the late Carl Robert Evans Sr. and Clara Lorene Evans. He was a farmer in Lake County for 45 years until he retired.
He is survived by his three children: daughters, Brenda Darlene Parrot of Waverly and Keleta Evans Turnage of Troy; and son, James Ray Evans Jr. (Wendy) of Latham. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Natalie D. Nolte and (Jason) of Olive Branch, Miss., Ashley Nicole Camaso and (Tim) of Newbern, Deanna Renae Curtis and (Adam) of Waverly, Michael S. Hall II and (Bethany) from Richlands, N.C., Madison Leigh Winchester from Kenton, Megan Elizabeth Winchester of Union City and Autumn Marie Faith Jackson of Ridgely.
Ray has one surviving brother, Carl Robert Evans Jr. (June); and three surviving sisters, Betty Stout of Dresden, Wanda Stafford (Tommy) from Samburg and Vicky Clemons of Missouri. Ray is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Jim Humfress, Buddy Humfress, Tom Evans and Paul D. Evans; and sisters, Marie Roberson and Linda Reynolds.
There will be a memorial arrangement set at a later date. Ray will be remembered for his contagious smile and endearing soul.
