James “Jamie” Lawrence Alexander, 41, of Hickman, Ky., died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at Fulton County High School. Interment will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the hour of services on Saturday at the school.
Rawls Funeral Home in Union City is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 25, 1980, to Minnie Ann Alexander and the late James Lawrence Smith of Mayfield, Ky.
Jamie attended Fulton County High School where he graduated with the class of 2000. He was a very talented football player.
Because of his athletic abilities, he received an athletic scholarship to Murray State University where he then majored in criminal justice. He was a dedicated, hard working Sargeant at Fulton Detention Center in Hickman. He will truly be missed by the staff and inmates.
Left to mourn his transition are his mother, Minnie Ann Alexander; his two children, Jaymessykah Alexander of Hickman and Jadence Alexander of Fulton; and his dog, Milo. Also, he leaves to cherish his memories, four brothers, Sammy Alexander and Chris Alexander, both of Union City, Charlie Alexander (Kimberly) of Clinton, Ky., and Chris Hardy of Lake County; five sisters, Victoria Clark, Vanessa Alexander of Union City, Evon Alexander of Murray, Ky., Jeanette Alexander of Hickman and Vanessa Cox of Sumter, S.C.
Jamie also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lawrence Smith; maternal great-grandparents, Katherine Alexander and Horace Alexander; and his paternal grandparent, James Lewis Smith.
