Tommie Carr

Thomas Wade (Tommy) Carr, age 74, of Martin, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at Diversicare. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin, with private burial services to follow. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, where he played football and was a European All Star. Tommy was an avid UT football fan and enjoyed attending games at Neyland Stadium. He was retired from Goodyear Tire of Union City. Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Peggy Herron Carr of Martin; his sons, Alan D. Carr of Martin and Patrick Carr of Knoxville; three grandchildren, X-avier Carr, Savanah Carr and Anhaliese Carr; and a brother, Dr. Kenneth (Beverly) Carr of Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Carr and Betty Freeman Donoho; a stepson, Christopher Ross; and a brother, Lanny Carr. Online tributes may be left at murphyfuneralhome.net.
