Richard Lee Hood, 74, of Obion died Aug. 16, 2021.
Graveside services will be held at Fox Cemetery, located west of Obion, immediately following visitation at Cryer Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be David “Cat” Lee, Randy Evans, Lynn Jones, Danny McDonald, Preston Simrell and Mark Parnell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Cranford, Gerald Hollis, Sydney Chappell, Ed Cook and Terry Ledbetter.
Richard was born Nov. 5, 1946, the son of Hugh Walker “Bill” and Cordelia Hood in Union City. He has been a lifelong resident of Obion County, where he graduated from Obion County Central High School in 1964. Richard married Betty Ann Butler of Obion in 1969 and they had two children, Casey L. Hood of Obion and Connie Hood Rogers of Troy.
Richard established Hood Plumbing Company in 1970, serving northwest Tennessee with his brother, Kenneth, and son, Casey, for over 50 years. He served the Town of Obion as alderman for several terms in the 1980s and was also active with the Obion Fire Department during the same time. He was also a member of Obion First Baptist Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann; his two children, Casey Hood (Noelle) and Connie Hood Rogers of Troy; five grandchildren, Halie Hood of Obion, Lindy Hood of Brentwood, Carlie Kendall (John) of Hornbeak, Preston Little of Martin and Parker Little of San Diego, Calif.; one great-grandson, Brycen Little of Hornbeak; one brother, Kenneth Joe Hood (Cathy) of Obion; and three sisters, Patricia Bobo (David) of Union City, Toni Boone (Aaron) of Obion and Rhonda Hood of Union City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Memphis Scottish Rite Foundation, 825 Union Ave., Memphis, TN 38103.
