AND THE WINNER IS … — Mindy McClanahan of Union City is The Messenger’s Photo of the Month contest winner for July. She took this photo of her 12-year-old daughter, Rachel McClanahan, at the Halls Riding Club with a Google Pixel. “Rachel wanted to practice carrying the flag because she was going to compete in the Junior Miss Tennessee Rodeo pageant,” said her grandfather, Don Shepherd, who submitted the photo. He said Rachel, who is also the daughter of Justin McClanahan, won queen in that pageant. Entries for the contest are accepted at ucdm@ucmessenger.com. “Photo Contest” should be the subject line. The photographer’s name, address and daytime phone number should be included, as well as where the photograph was made, what kind of camera it was taken with and a brief explanation of the photograph.
