Johnnie Maye Crowder Hazlewood, age 86, of Martin, went to be with our LORD on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her residence. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Potts, Dr. Bobby Mullins and Dr. Greg Frizzell officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon until service time with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. She was the daughter of the late John H. and Elector May Crowder. Her sister was Alice Savannah Wolfe and she had eight half-brothers and sisters from her father’s family. She was the seventh great-granddaughter of Hugh Crowder who helped settle the Jamestown, Virginia area and was a distant cousin of James K. Polk, the 11th President of the United States who was from Columbia, TN. She married Alvin Leon Hazlewood on April 1, 1956 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hazlewood in Martin on Easter Sunday. Her children are Wanda Mullins (Bobby) of Hernando, Mississippi, Sandy Frizzell (Greg) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tim (Danise) Hazlewood of Martin. She has three grandchildren, Brandon (Megan) Mullins, Melody (Joey) Amason, and Mallory (Rocky) McNabb; and four great-grandchildren, Brantley and Ella Mullins, Raelyn and Browder McNabb. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of New Home Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing and the ladies WMU group. She was truly a Proverbs 31 mother.
