MORNING CRASH — A driver was injured about 8:45 this morning when her sport utility vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer rig and overturned at Everett Boulevard and West Main Street in Union City. The SUV driver, April Henderson of Union City, was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment. Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Everett when the wreck occurred. The semi driver, Russell Goins of Kentucky, was getting over into the fast lane from the slow lane of traffic to stop at the red light when the SUV driver, not seeing him, tried to get over, apparently to turn onto West Main Street, according to Union City Police Department patrol officer Chris Boucher. The SUV hit the semi rig, causing the silver Ford Escape to flip. Ms. Henderson was pinned and was freed by Union City Fire Department personnel. Her passenger, Misty Bell of Union City, was not transported for treatment. Ms. Henderson was taken to the hospital by Baptist Union EMS, but the extent of her injuries was not known at press time. She was cited for failure to yield the right of way. The Tennessee Highway Patrol was also on the scene.
