Gleason’s annual Hometown Christmas celebrates the season and its 15th year. Holiday events begin on Dec. 4. A soup and chili supper, sponsored by the Tumbling Creek Baptist Church Youth will be held at the Community building at the entrance to Snider Park at 5-7 p.m. All of the delicious soup and chili will be made by the church members and will be served on a donations-per-bowl basis. There will be no set price; attendants are asked to give what they feel they can. Proceeds from the supper will be used to help local youth in need.

Holiday pictures will be taken in front of the Christmas Photo Booth with props. This is also a free event. While out with the family, think about stopping by Jingle Bell Junction, sponsored by the Gleason Rotary Club. Kids will be treated to a magical train ride, one they will not soon forget.

Adding to the celebration, the Gleason School Fine Arts Club will be having a Hometown Christmas Art Show. This event will be held inside the Gleason Community Room on the night of Dec. 4. Anyone interested is invited to enter their art. The only thing required is the name of the artist and grade. Entries need to be turned in by Dec. 3.

Elementary students should turn their art in to teachers. Jr. high and high school students should turn their work in to Coach J. The wonderful talent present at Gleason School is something to celebrate.

The Gleason Women’s Club will be sponsoring a Cake Auction. All of the proceeds from this even will go to benefit the Gleason Community Fund, which is set up to help those in need. Additional proceeds will also go to the Gleason Library.

For extra fun, a Christmas Cookie Eating Contest will also take place on Dec. 4. Attendees are encouraged to bring their heartiest appetites. An Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest will be held, as well. Bring out your worst (in the best way) sweater and see if you can claim this fun title for yourself.

Food trucks will also be there to provide a variety of different things for any discerning taste buds. Once celebrants have tasted everything, they can take advantage of the opportunity to shop small and to support their hometown local businesses.

Door prizes will be given away, sponsored by the Bank of Gleason, Imery’s (KT Clay), Sims and Dragonfly Studio.  Some of the prizes include a 20 inch boys’ and girls’ bike, blankets, gloves, Ozark Trail cups, and a goodie bag offered by Doyle Sims.

Finish off your holiday with live entertainment provided by Jon and Anna Eaton.

All of the events of Gleason’s Hometown Christmas are sponsored by Gleason City Hall. The staff and the mayor would like its attendees to know, “We look forward to seeing you at the 15th Annual Hometown Christmas Celebration.” They conclude with, “Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
