In Thursday’s edition of The Press, incorrect information was published concerning the Greenfield Fire Department.
The story should have read: The city has authorized Fire Chief Bob Dudley to apply for an Assistance to Firefighter’s Grant grant next year.
Normally, the city contributes 5 percent to assist in securing this grant.
This year, the city approved spending of $150,000 to help in securing the grant that will purchase a $350,000 new pumper with all new equipment plus the addition of rescue equipment if the grant is funded. These funds come from rural fire protection fees, not city taxpayer’s funds.
The AFG grant is for fire services and EMS personnel only. The funding began post 911 and the City of Greenfield has received funding four times since the inception.
The Press regrets the errors.
