Bobby Peeler

Bobby J. Peeler, age 87, former Martin City Alderman and City of Martin Mayor,  died Sunday, April 14, 2019, at his residence. Funeral service were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Martin with Rev. Randy Cooper officiating. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Bubba Kelly, Richard Kelly, Jim Cannon, Conner Simpson, Mike Wilson and Bill Zarecor.  Honorary Pallbearers were Wayne Chester, Paul Kelly, Greg Moore, Chris Moore, Cris Legens, Burruss Nichols, Huey Claybrook and Don Smith. Mr. Peeler was a pharmacist and owned and operated Village Pharmacy in Martin. He proudly graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) School of Pharmacy. He was former President of the Jackson and Tupelo Mississippi Jaycees Club. Mr. Peeler was honored to be named Outstanding Young Man of the Year for Jackson Madison County. He attended both the First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Martin.  He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Peeler is survived by his wife, Janiece Crockett Peeler of Martin; his daughter, Pam Lester of Martin; his son, Jon (Vickie) Peeler of Goodletsville; three grandchildren, Lauren (Caleb) Smith, Madeline Peeler and Rachel Lester (John Thomas) Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Peeler and Durell Wright Peeler; and brothers, Donald Peeler and Robert Neil (Tincy) Peeler. Online tributes may be left at
