— Five-year-old Suni Ray Wright-Johnson and her class-mates, including 5-year-old Jeremy Bonds (background), donned their Dr. Seuss “Cat in the Hat” headgear Friday morning as they enjoyed a treat of green eggs and ham in pre-kindergarten teacher Kim Taylor’s class at Union City Elementary School. The activity was held in conjunction with Read Across America, a nationwide read-ing celebration observed annually on the birthday of children’s author Theodor Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss. Among his most well-known books are “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.” Schools, daycares and libraries across Obion County and across the nation held special reading activities all last week. Photos from several local schools will be published as a Friends & Neighbors photo feature in Wednesday’s edition.
