She was born April 8, 1937, in Union City and was a 1955 graduate of Union City High School.
Virginia Shore and Virgil Terry were married at Union City First Baptist Church Nov. 11, 1956. She completed a bachelor of science degree in education in 1988 at Abilene Christian University. For more than 21 years, she worked for Sweetwater ISD as a special educator/social and life skills teacher.
After retiring in 2009, she continued to substitute teach for Abilene ISD until January 2016. She was superb at everything from being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and a mentor. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 59 years, Virgil Terry of Abilene; her son, Mark Terry of Abilene; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jerry Melton of Sherman, Texas; her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Ted Perry of Union City; two nieces and their spouses, Gena and Scott Kepner and Ginger and Chad Odle, all of Union City; her daughter-in-law, Teresa Terry; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; along with other extended family members, especially her aunt, Betty Forrester of Cordova.
