John Barker

John W. Barker Jr., 78, of Dyersburg, formerly of Union City, died Aug. 23, 2015, at VanAyer Health and Rehabilitation Center in Martin.
Born Wednesday, July 28, 1937, in Obion County, he was the son of the late John Wright Barker Sr. and the late Ella Jane Burch Barker. Mr. Barker was a retired employee of Goodyear and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City.
Graveside services for Mr. Barker will be 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at Obion County Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Nathe Ozment officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Joy Earnestine Baldridge Barker of Dyersburg; one son, John W. Barker III and his wife, Mona J., of Union City; one daughter, Sandy Barker Epperson and her husband, Steve, of Dyersburg; two brothers, Clifford Forrest Barker of Obion and Billy Burch Barker of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Sydney Epperson Parkin of Dyersburg, Jordan Barker of Cordova and Sarah Epperson and Shellie Epperson, both of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Grace Parkin and Nathan Ryder Parkin, both of Dyersburg.
Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Parkin, Russell Barker, Bobby James, J.T. Jones, Guy Hansford and Andrew Sanders.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jay Greer.
The family asks that memorials be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, 2250 East Reelfoot Ave., Union City, TN 38261.
