Jack L. Virden

Mr. Jack L. Virden, 85, of Belmont, Mississippi, passed away 3:19 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his home.
He was a former resident of Union City.
Funeral services were to be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett was to officiate. Entombment will be in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was to be held at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services today.
Memorial contributions may taake the form of donations to North Mississippi Medical Center, Attention: Hospice, 422 A East President Avenue, Tupelo, MS 38801-9986.
Mr. Virden was born March 6, 1930, in Dennis, Mississippi, son of the late Johnny Evan and Edith (McAnally) Virden. He married Vivian (Chapman) Virden on April 27, 1949. She survives.
Mr. Virden was employed as assistant superintendent at the former Lear Siegler in Union City. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was an avid fisherman.
He is also survived by one daughter, Danette (Virden) Kinsey of Union City; one son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Neva Jo Virden of Union City; two sisters, Jean Weismuller and Dot Gilbert, both of Inverness, Florida; one brother, Johnny Virden of Tupelo, Mississippi; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Carl W. Virden.
