Shelby Ivey Sr.

Shelby Wayne Ivey Sr., 78, of Cunningham, Ky., died June 12, 2015, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Byrns Funeral Chapel in Mayfield, Ky. Burial will follow in the North Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Friends and family may visit the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 11th, 82nd and 101st Airborn. He was in the 10th Special Forces. He was a retired maintenance worker for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and was an ordained Baptist minister.
He is survived by his wife, Sophia Ivey of Cunningham; his daughter and son-in-law, Steve and Charlotte Johnson of Fulton; his two sons, Shelby Wayne Ivey Jr. of Cunningham and Ottis Lee Ivey of Mayfield; three grandchildren, Christina Bannister, Josh Ivey and Cody Johnson; two great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Ivey of Union City; his brother, Bob Ivey of Hickman, Ky.; and his sister, Mauretta LaGore of Paducah, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernice (Ted) Ivey and Beulah May (Wright) Ivey; and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jim Mason; sister-in-law, Amelia (Tiny) Ivey; and his brother-in-law, E.B. LaGore.
