Dewey Fitz

Services were set for 1 p.m. today at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with Bobby Stewart officiating. Burial was to follow in Troy’s Terrace Hill Cemetery.
The family was to receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
Pallbearers were to be Dave Bragg, Kenny Beard, Jim Robinson, Kenneth Baker, Dennis Whitson, Jackie Childress and Jimmy Gwaltney.
The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope, P.O. Box 482, Union City, TN 38281.
He was born Jan. 14, 1934, in the Polk Station community, son of the late Walter Ray Fitz and the late Gerline (Thornton) Dedmond. He was married to the former Nancy Lou Nicks, who survives, and was a heavy equipment operator who had been employed with Northwest Tennessee Disposal. He was a member of Troy Main Street Church of Christ and was an Obion County constable for more than 20 years.
He is also survived by his daughter, Phyllis Oberle of Germantown, Md.; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Doris Fitz of Tiptonville; three granddaughters, Jessica Butler of South Fulton, Kimberly Drollinger of Germantown, Md., and Adrienne Baker of Dumfries, Va.; his grandson, Sterling Oberle of Germantown, Md.; two great-grandchildren, Declan Baker and Quinn Baker, both of Dumfries; and his half sister, Judy Joyner of Hornbeak.
He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Irene Fitz; his stepsister and his stepbrother.
