George W. Hendon

George W. Hendon, 88, of Union City died 1:05 p.m. June 30, 2013, in the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at East View Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Leggett will officiate.
Pallbearers will be David Critchlow Jr., Scott Critchlow, Chris Douglas, David Harrison, Jim Harrison, Tony Harrison and Van Sims.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
He was born July 10, 1924, in Sedalia, Ky., son of the late Enoch and Cynthia (Mortheral) Hendon. He married the former Berta Phillips Feb. 15, 1947. She survives. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and had been employed as branch manager of Flavor-Kist Cracker Co. in Mayfield, Ky.; Moberley, Mo.; Columbia, Mo.; and Humboldt. He retired as a supervisor from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and had been a route carrier for the Union City Daily Messenger for several years. He was ordained as a deacon at Northside Baptist Church in Mayfield and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.
He is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Regina Hendon and Kevin and Lori Hendon, all of Union City, and Keith and Jan Hendon of Brentwood; two sisters and his brother-in-law, Rosella and Connie Spaulding of Fancy Farm, Ky., and Betty Watts of Sedalia; his brother and a sister-in-law, Ray and Marita Hendon of Sedalia; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hendon; and two sisters, Lova Sims and Altie Bea Tidwell.
