WOW readies for first show in Martin with ‘bullpen’ main event

MARTIN — WOW pro wrestling’s James Radford, who performs as Kamala Jr., said professional wrestling history will be made Saturday night at the McWherter Ag Pavilion.
The main event of the promotion’s first show in Martin will feature the first-ever “hardcore bullpen match,” something that’s never been tried before in pro wrestling, according to Radford.
The match will pit Kamala Jr. against Brimstone in a literal bullpen with various weapons available for use lining the sides of the pen. But that’s not all.
WWE legend Kamala The Ugandan Giant will be in the corner of Kamala Jr., who is his son, as the story goes. It will also be the first time the two Kamalas have  appeared on the same card.
“This is actually his first or any kind of appearance since he had both of his legs amputated,” Radford said. “He will be on a scooter.”
Showtime Daniel Thomas will be in Brimstone’s corner.
Brad Gaskins of The Weakley County Press will serve as the main event’s special guest referee.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with matches starting at 8.
Ringside tickets are $10 in advance, and general admission tickets are $8 in advance and are available at Family Check Advance, which is sponsoring the event.
“Martin has been a targeted area for us,” Radford said. “We have matches in Dresden, but this will be our first time in Martin. We have a big show lined up.”
Eight matches are on the card, including three cage matches and a women’s match. A midget match is scheduled.
WOW is also scheduled to put on a show during the annual Tennessee Soybean Festival.
Saturday’s all-ages show will be geared toward the entire family.
Radford people of all walks of life enjoy wrestling.
“You’d be surprised,” he said.
Special family discount rates are availabe. For more information on those, contact WOW by email at wowtn@live.com, or check them out on Facebook at facebook.com/wideopenwrestling.
