On Friday, the residents celebrated the warm weather with a summer bizarre. Everyone was delighted to enjoy fresh watermelon and cantaloupe until their bellies were full. We also had ice cream sundaes on hand for those still needing a little sweet treat.
This week’s cover card winners were Opal Pentecost, Mildred Turner, Shirley Gooch, Mary Clark, Ray Crowell and Linda Turner.
For Thursday’s one-line Bingo, everyone left a winner. They each received 50 cents, compliments of Cindy Johnson. We greatly appreciate your kind donation.
We continue to have wonderful assist during our Bingo games from peer residents, employees and family members. Your help enables us to fill the room and ensures that everyone gets to play.
This week’s sporting events were outstanding. Bobby Bynum took first place at horseshoes with 26 points. His runner-up was Sue Bailey with 22 points. Ray Crowell was the winner at splat ball with a two-point lead over Bobby Bynum. Ray came back to also take first place in archery and ladder golf with Marguerite Radford coming in second.
Barry Flowers was the big winner of the bag toss with an impressive score of 53 points. Congratulations to all our winners.
The residents participated in secret ingredient on Wednesday morning. This is a cognitive activity that requires participants to figure out the dish based on the ingredients. It can be very difficult and go until the secret ingredient is revealed. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed reminiscing about favorite recipes.
Friends of Carmen Kelley were with us on Sunday afternoon for a wonderful musical performance. They have such talents and we are so thankful they share them with each month. The residents love singing along to their favorite gospel hymns.
Dresden First United Methodist Church was with us on Tuesday afternoon and Siloam Baptist Church for our Wednesday evening Bible study. Both groups do a remarkable job praising in song and scripture.
Dresden First Baptist Church and Liberty Church of Christ was with us for Sunday morning services. Each does a wonderful job each week conducted worship services. We are so grateful to have such kind local congregations willing to sacrifice their time enable our residents to worship with ease. Thank you all so much.
Many donations have been brought to the facility for our residents.
The Crossno family and member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church donated lots of wonderful items that will put to good use. Thank you all so much for your kindness.
