A University of Tennessee at Martin student will join contestants from across the state in the Miss Tennessee Pageant Wednesday through Saturday at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.
Jordan Gunn of Dyersburg, 2013 Miss University of Tennessee at Martin, will compete, along with Madison Hardy of Nashville, 2013 Miss Tennessee Soybean Festival.
Miss Gunn is a senior geosciences major at UT Martin and Miss Hardy is a graduate of Belmont University.
“Madison and Jordan have been diligent this year in their preparations for this competition,” said Hollie Holt, Miss UT Martin/Miss Tennessee Soybean Festival director.
“The Miss America organization gives them the resources to grow in all aspects of their lives, helping them to become strong, independent women while making a difference in our world through their own personal philanthropic platforms of bullying awareness and fighting obesity in Tennessee.”
Miss Tennessee contestants compete in swimsuit, talent, eveningwear, interview and on-stage questions. During the competition, contestants will win more than $75,000 in scholarship funds. Miss Tennessee will compete for the title of Miss America in September 2013.
The final competition is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
