Vickers’ U of L car
set for Ky. Speedway
ATLANTA (AP) — Brian Vickers is hoping Cardinal karma extends to his stock car at Kentucky Speedway later this month.
The NASCAR driver’s No. 55 Toyota will honor Louisville’s NCAA championship with a red, white and black paint scheme for the Quaker State 400 Sprint Cup Series race on June 29. The Cardinal bird mascot will be featured on Vickers’ car hood and his fire suit.
Vickers drives for Michael Waltrip Racing; Waltrip is an Owensboro, Ky., native.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino said Wednesday he likes the car’s paint scheme. Vickers says he is honored to be associated with the national champions and his goal was to make Cardinals fans “proud.”
Vickers’ car is sponsored by Aaron’s, an Atlanta-based lease-to-own furniture and electronics retailer.
