Completed arrangements are being announced for Andrew Lee “Butch” Byars, 65, of Palmersville, who died 5:15 p.m. June 10, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was a former resident of Union City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. The Revs. Mike Ozment and Pete Staples will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Larry Ferrell, Danny Fisher, Jonathan Lewis, Alan Barge, Mike Petty and Richard Scarbrough.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Rex Cloar, Gary Hurt, Jimmy Burress, Charles Norsworthy, Bill Brown, Tony Green, Justin Staples, Josh Staples, Jonathan Staples, Bob Webb, Dale Vinson, Hugh Brann, Dale McCant and William Winstead.
He was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Weakley County, son of the late Guy Byars Jr. and the late Mary Frances (Cooper) Kruliski. He married the former Judy Gurien Nov. 27, 1969. She survives. He had retired from the maintenance department at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City after 25 years of service and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dresden.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christy (Byars) and Steve Gibson of Greenfield; his stepmother, Carrie Byars of Union City; three grandchildren, Olivia Gibson, Isabelle Gibson and Gunner Michael Gibson, all of Greenfield; two sisters and his brother-in-law, Cindy Bynum of Martin and Lisa and Jim Horner of Union City; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Monty and Mary Byars of Rives, Leonard and Rhonda Davis of Union City and Donnie Brock of Danville, Va.; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in Union City and Troy.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Paula Counsell; and his brother, Paul Byars.
