MARTIN — Martin police have arrested a man in connection with a recent break-in at The Hearth.
Gregory Grant, 46, of Wagner Street in Martin, has been charged with burglary, theft of property and vandalism.
Martin police responded to an alarm call shortly after midnight Sunday at The Hearth, located at 613 N. Lindell St. When officers arrived, they observed a broken glass window on the north side of the building.
Further investigation revealed a large white rock lying on the floor inside the restaurant.
Officers searched the building but found no one inside.
The complainant, Michael Thweatt, told police nothing appeared to be missing, although a St. Jude donation can was out of place and lying on the floor. No money appeared to be missing from the can.
Thweatt showed officer video surveillance from inside the restaurant.
The video allegedly showed a back male, possibly balding, with possible sideburns.
The suspect was seen in the video wearing a dark blue zip-up hoodie with white inner lining of the hood and a white emblem on the left side of the chest.
