When members of the Obion County Central High School Class of 2013 receive their diplomas Friday evening in the school’s gymnasium, they will bring down the curtain on the excitement that has been sweeping the county the past week as seniors at the three high schools close out their local educational careers.
The important ceremony will begin at 7:30 when the OCCHS principal, Linda Crigger, welcomes guests and makes introductions. The class salutatorian, Rebecca Lund, will offer the invocation and Allison Wicker will provide the valedictorian’s address. Jackson Smith, president of the class, will also offer ideas focusing on the important event for those in attendance.
Ms. Crigger will award diplomas to the class, along with assistant principals Craig Rogers and Greg Barclay, and Obion County School System director of schools David Huss will confer the diplomas.
The location of graduation ceremonies has been changed because of the weather forecast. Doors to the gymnasium will open at 6:15 p.m. Parking, with shuttle service, will be available at Troy First Baptist Church and at Troy Church of Christ and will begin at 6 p.m.
Students will be recognized for special achievement by the wearing of medallions, stoles, cords and tassels of specific colors.
