Bridal courtesies honor Miss McGill

Erin Elizabeth McGill of Munford, bride-elect of Ryan Scott Angel of Union City, was recently honored with several courtesies prior to their wedding.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman McGill Jr. of Munford. He is the son of Barbara Angel and Eugene Angel Jr., both of Union City.
The couple will wed at 6 p.m. June 15 at First Presbyterian Church in Covington. Music will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Balcony in Munford will be the site of the reception immediately following the ceremony.

Bridal luncheon
The Old Town Hall Café in Covington was the site for a bridal luncheon. Co-hostesses for the event were Katie McGill, sister of the bride-elect, of Trenton, Meredith Schultz of Dyersburg and Lindsay McGill, sister-in-law of the bride-elect, of Smyrna.
Miss McGill chose a three-quarter length sleeve belted sheath dress in shades of coral, pink and purple.
Gifts were displayed on a glass-topped table covered with a white linen cloth with a gold overlay.
Guests were served rotini pasta salad, various fresh fruits with dip and chicken salad with iced tea. Choice of desserts were lemonade cake, coconut cake, chocolate cobbler, bread pudding or blueberry crisp. Colorful bouquets of spring flowers accented the tables.
Attending were family and friends of the bride-elect. Special guests were the bride-elect’s mother, Meg McGill; her aunt, Carolyn Meton of Memphis; the mother of the groom-elect, Barbara Angel of Union City; his grandmother, Wanda Sublett of Union City; his aunt, Annette Ferguson of Union City; his sister, Whitney Thornton of Brownsville; and his niece and nephew, Wesley and John Robert Thornton of Brownsville.
The hostesses presented the bride-elect with three place settings of the couple’s chosen everyday dinnerware.

Bridal shower
The Christian Life Center of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Union City was the setting for a bridal shower for Miss McGill.
Hostesses Whitney Thornton, sister of the groom-elect, of Brownsville and Annette Ferguson, aunt of the groom-elect, of Union City hosted the afternoon gathering and presented the bride-elect a corsage with a yellow rose embellished with silver wedding rings and yellow ribbon.
The honoree was dressed in a royal blue eyelet dress featuring a rounded neckline and cap sleeves and accented at the waist by a yellow belt. She greeted guests along with her mother; her sister, Katie McGill of Trenton; and friend Melanie Jepson of Jackson.
Tables draped with white linen clothes were centered with mason jars tied with burlap ribbon and baby’s breath and submerged lemon slices. A selection of fruit with dip, pastel mints and iced tea cake cookies were served to friends and family of the groom who attended. Lemonade punch was also offered from a large ornate dispenser. Sitting atop an elevated yellow and white chevron cloth, the buffet table’s center focal point was a large glass urn filled with curly willow oak and pink azalea branches.
Painted letters on a burlap pennant hung by miniature clothespins to a twine rope spelling “Angel” were displayed across the front of the featured table.
Gifts were displayed on a white linen covered table with a burlap runner. Pink azalea branches and baby’s breath filled mason and apothecary jars tied with burlap ribbon was featured as the focal point.
Other special guests were Miss McGill’s aunt, Carolyn Meton of Memphis; the groom-elect’s mother; his grandmother, Mrs. Sublett; his great-aunt, Nell Garrett of Union City; his grandmother, Peggy Angel Hart of Hornbeak; his aunt, Donya Angel of Hornbeak; his step-mother, Cynthia Angel of Union City; and his niece and nephew, Wesley and John Robert Thornton, both of Brownsville.
The hostesses presented the honoree with two sets of monogrammed bathroom towels in the couple’s selection of colors.
