George Woodrow “Woody” Castleman, 68, of the Chestnut Glade community died May 26, 2013, at his home.
Visitation will be at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. A memorial graveside service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at New Hope Cemetery in the Ruthville community.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38148-0142.
He was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church in Dresden and had worked in the final finish department at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Union City, where he retired with over 20 years of service. He had been a resident of Niles, Mich., before returning to this area in 1977.
He is survived by his wife, the former Brenda Adell Gibson, whom he married Sept. 23, 1961; his mother, Geneva (Ingram) Castleman of Mayfield, Ky.; his son and daughter-in-law, George Castleman Jr. and Barbara Castleman of the Latham community; two daughters and his son-in-law, Penny and Keith Johansen of Martin and Roxanne Pate of South Fulton; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard Castleman of Dukedom; and two sisters, Wanda Fagan of Dukedom and Violet Heathcoatt of Mayfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cary Odell “C.O.” Castleman; his granddaughter, his great-granddaughter; and his brother, Randall Castleman.
