Alice Harris Posted: Tuesday, May 28, 2013 5:14 pm The Messenger, May 28, 2013 Alice Elizabeth Harris, 93, of 5308 Jodie Jacobs Road near Rives died about 10:15 a.m. May 27, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Brenda Bell, in Union City. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at White-Ranson Funeral Home an hour before services on Wednesday. The Rev. Ben Lowensdale, pastor of Mt. Pelia Baptist Church, will officiate. Pallbearers will be friends and members of the church, which is located near Martin. The family requests that memorials be made to Mt. Pelia Baptist Church, P.O. Box 361, Martin, TN 38237, in Mrs. Harris’ name. She was born July 8, 1919, in Obion County, daughter of the late Dillard and Nora (Harrison) King. She married Richard A. Harris Dec. 18, 1937. He died March 28, 1996. She was a retired Union City schools cafeteria worker and a homemaker. A member of Mt. Pelia Baptist Church, she had been active in the Martin Senior Citizens organization until she became ill. She had made her home the last several years with her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill W. Bell of Union City. She is also survived by two grandsons and their wives and children. Grandson Bill M. Bell and his wife Shanda and great-grandson Thomas Bell live in Cumming, Ga. Grandson Mark Bell and his wife DeAnna, along with great-granddaughter Abby Bell and step-great-granddaughter Mendi Scarborough, live in Union City. Other survivors include her nieces, Diane Brooks of Salida, Colo., Linda Hodges and Sheila Brown, both of Martin, and Jeanie Williams of Maryville; and her nephew, Bobby King of Martin. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evie Mobbs and Geneva Raymer; and four brothers, R.D. King, A.B. King, Milton King and Henry King.
