Completed arrangements are being announced for Robert A. Myers, 89, of Union City, who went home to be with the Lord at 8:55 a.m. May 23, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. The Revs. Chip Davis, Jerry Leggett and Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Allen Herchenhahn, Mike McCarver, Royce Morgan, Keith Nance, Jimmy Barron, David Durham and Kenny Crews. Honorary pallbearers will be James Henson, Carol Thomas and Willie Etheridge.
He was born July 7, 1923, in Obion County, son of the late Osie Edward and Carrie Mardell (Beeler) Myers. He married the former Maxine Tanner Dec. 12, 1942. She survives. He was a retired self-employed contractor and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Union City Second Baptist Church and a former founding member of Lake Road Baptist Church.
He is also survived by two daughters and his son-in-law, Ruth Ann and William Brewer of Sharon and Sherry Shanklin of Union City; his sister, Leona Threlkeld of Union City; his brother, Edward Myers of South Fulton; four grandsons and the spouses of two, Allan Brewer and Thomas and Sue Brewer, all of Sharon, Guy Shanklin of Union City and Ryan and Ashley Shanklin of Dyer; and four great-grandchildren and the spouse of one, Matt, Chad and Samantha, Adam and Allie.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bill Shanklin; two sisters, Pauline Myers and Jewel Milligan; and his brother, Raymond Myers.
