Gerald Campbell

Gerald M. Campbell, formerly of Sharon, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Gulfport, Miss.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 13 in Memphis with in West Tennessee Veteran Cemetery in Germantown.

He was born, son of the late Guy and Bernice Wells Campbell. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II. Captain Vasquez presented the belated Meritorious Medal and Citation for Gerald’s bravery above and beyond the call of duty during the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

Survivors include one son, Gary Campbell of St. Charles, Mo.; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Campbell; five sisters, Mary Wright, Ruth Smith, Jean Mathis, Norma Jackson and Joyce Perkins; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one foster son.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald Campbell; and one brother, William Dale Campbell.
