No injuries were reported Monday morning in a two-car crash where one vehicle ended up striking a street sign and a utility pole in Union City.
Keshia Marie Puckett, 21, of 209 Lee St., Martin, was southbound on North Morgan Street, while Betheney Denise Elam, 37, of 301 Stevens St., Union City, was eastbound on East Main Street at the time of the crash about 10:40 a.m., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported Ms. Puckett had stopped at the stop sign at Morgan and Main streets and then proceeded into traffic. Ms. Puckett told police she did not see Ms. Elam approaching when she pulled into traffic. The 2002 Mercury driven by Ms. Puckett struck the driver’s side of Ms. Elam’s 2011 Kia, causing both of them to leave the roadway and Ms. Elam to end up in the yard at 601 East Main St.
Ms. Puckett’s vehicle struck a street sign and utility pole on the corner of Morgan and Main streets, according to the report.
Ms. Puckett was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
