From June 3-8, 2013, the Martin Beautiful Committee will be accepting nominations for the annual Martin Beautiful Awards.
Outstanding examples are the 2012 winners: Bob and Gail Smith, 145 Baker Road; Joann Carter, 323 Davis Street; St. Jude Catholic Church; West Martin Welcome sign, Optimist Club; La Cabana Restaurant, 305 Lindell; and Weldon Public Library, Main and Lindell. There will be six awards given to recognize beautification efforts in five different categories:
• Residential (Two Winners)
• Business/Commercial
• Public Place
• Churches
• Adopt-A-Site
The Martin Beautiful Committee awards are given to individuals or businesses that have demonstrated the greatest efforts to beautify Martin during the past year. The Martin Beautiful committee feels this is a way to salute those that take pride in their property and in the City of Martin.
Beginning June 3, nominations for the Martin Beautiful Awards will be accepted through June 8. The Martin Beautiful Committee will judge the nominated sites the between June 10-15. The winners will be announced at the Mayor’s Kickoff Luncheon on September 3rd as part of the Annual Tennessee Soybean Festival.
Rules for the awards are as follows:
• Last year’s winners are ineligible.
• Nominations can be made by anyone in the community.
• A committee or third party can make nominations.
• Landscape of the front and back yards, not architecture, is to be considered.
• The property with the majority of votes in its category will be selected.
