A Union City man was arrested for an alleged marijuana offense during a traffic stop Monday evening.
Brandon Everett Bramlett, 27, of 5276 Rogers Marshall Road was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana at 7:31 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Church Street in Union City, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The arrest came after a police officer observed a vehicle with a mutilated tag and initiated a traffic stop. The officer reported that before he approached the vehicle, the passenger — identified as Bramlett — leaned forward and allegedly appeared to be placing items on the floor or under the passenger seat.
The officer reported the driver appeared nervous and stated he did not have knowledge of anything illegal inside the car. Union City police drug detection dog Brok was utilized in a search of the outside of the vehicle and alerted to the passenger door where Bramlett was seated, according to the report.
A search of the vehicle by police yielded a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana. Police reported they seized 11.7 grams of marijuana.
Bramlett was transported to the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex.
