John Carlos Parr of South Fulton graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a doctor of philosophy degree during recent spring commencement exercises on the Hattiesburg campus.

Eleven Obion County residents were among more than 1,500 candidates for graduation eligible to receive one or more credentials recently from West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
More than 230 candidates for graduation participated in the 2013 WKCTC graduation ceremony at Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center in Paducah, Ky.
Obion Countians who were among the graduates included Debra Yvette Crume, associate in science; Angela Renee Conley, associate in applied science, with distinction; Sarah B. Gallimore, associate in applied science, with high distinction; Shannon Ranay Hutchison, associate in applied science; Michael Gary Lefebvre, associate in applied science; Brandy N. Wheeler, associate in applied science; Hailey R. Grooms, diploma; Timothy Dale Wigdor, diploma, with high distinction; Billy Justin Grooms, certificate; Terry B. Mitchum, certificate; and Tiffany Nicole Roney, certificate.
High distinction is a cumulative grade point average of a 3.6 to 4.0, while distinction is a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 to 3.599.
