Omecia Christine Merrick, 80, died at her home in Dyer May 14, 2013.
Services will be held at Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Kenton Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Revs. Mickey Hanks and Steve Skelton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery of Kenton.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Merrick was born in Yorkville Oct. 12, 1932, and lived most of her life in Kenton. She was a member of Laneview Baptist Church near Kenton, but in later years attended Bells Chapel.
Mrs. Merrick leaves behind three children; Christy Skelton and husband Steve of Dyer, with children Krisha, Amber and Christopher; Denise Freeman and husband Paul of Bartlett, with children Serena and Candice; and David Merrick and wife Amy, with child Kaci of Kenton. She is also survived by her sister, Doodle (Avonia) Schoolfield of Kenton; her brother, Terry Ashmore of Martin; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Carmon Merrick; her parents, Leroy and Christine Ashmore; her son, Thomas Merrick; two sisters, Oguyn Ashmore and Jackie Pfefferle; her half sister, Onez Eddlemon Bell; and two half-brothers, Gilford Ashmore and Grady Ashmore.
