Dresden was tagged for six errors in the game. The Lady Lions had a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth when it all fell apart. The leadoff hitter singled to right field to start the inning, then Dresden starting pitcher Abigail Lockhart got the next batter on a ground-out but then walked the following batter. Lockhart then got the fourth batter of the inning looking on three straight pitches to make two on with two out and appeared to be getting out of the inning with little or no damage. Allie Randolph committed an error at first base on a line drive that gave the Lady Tigers new life with bases loaded. The sixth batter of the inning connected on a double that scored three runs to tie the game. The batter went to third on an error by Carly Greer in right field, rounded third and scored what would end up being the winning run. Lockhart got the next batter to ground out to Taylor McAplin at second base to end the inning, but the damage had already been done. The Lady Lions started the game with a four-run lead when Lochart, Kayla Hayes and Randolph all reached base with Lockhart and Hayes scoring on McAlpin’s single. KJ Smith then singled in Randolph to make it 3-0 and McAlpin scored on Haley Hart’s ground-out to second base to make it 4-0. Bruceton cut the lead in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Lions got one of those runs back in the top of the third when McAlpin scored on an error, but Bruceton came back with a run in the bottom of the inning. Hatchel doubled to centerfield, which scored Lockhart to make it 6-3 in the top of the fourth and ended Dresden’s scoring. The Lady Lions had a chance to score in the fifth when Randolph led off with a double, but Bruceton got the next three batters out to end the scoring threat. Lockhart only gave up one earned run on four hits and two walks, while striking out two batters. She went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.
