Walnut Log Baptist Church will host a benefit starting at 3 p.m. May 18 for 3-year-old cancer patient Brock “Conner” Griffin, the son of Brock and Ali Osborne Griffin of Union City.
There will be barbecue plates available and a cake walk and auction are also planned as part of the benefit event.
The young Griffin was born April 25, 2010. An emergency visit to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis revealed a tumor at the base of his brain about the size of an egg, according to a flyer. A successful surgery was performed and the tumor was removed without any damage to his brain or spinal cord.
He is now scheduled to undergo treatment at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis and is facing a minimum of four months of chemotherapy and radiation for his cancer (Ependymona), according to the flyer.
For more information about the benefit or to donate items for the auction, contact Christie Hays at 538-2038 or (731) 335-4891.
The young Griffin is the grandson of John and Tanya Long of Troy and Clint and LeAnne Wilson of Hornbeak.
