Operation Vet Tech, a technology apprenticeship program sponsored by Walmart, is offering classes that will begin May 28. Registration is open until May 23.

The program’s tuition is free to all veterans and required books and supplies are included in the estimated cost of $800 for non-veterans. Payment assistance is available to those who inquire.
The apprenticeship core skills training program provides new apprentices with 30 hours of formal training, including 15 hours of online and classroom, on the job learning/training and 15 hours of hands on training. Classes last for eight weeks either in classroom or online and these prepare students for computer certification. Career placement is included in tuition.
The program offers generic skill training through online classroom lecture and discussion, as well as hands-on application of procedures introduced in designated lab areas. Topics covered during the session will include, but will not be limited to, PC assembly and installation; computer repair level I and II; basic measurement and layout tool; precision measurement instruments; network installation and maintenance; introduction to operating systems; programming and problem solving; hardware and software troubleshooting and repair for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Window 8; input/output devices; and hands-on projects.
