7-under round wins weekly ‘Pop’ event Poplar Meadows Country Club held its weekly scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 8-under par. The team included Ken Courtwright, Jeff Stone, Raymond Hendricks, David Puckett, Charles Denaburg and Phillip White. Finishing in a tie for second at 7-under par were the teams of Sid Chappell, Amos Davis, Jim Baker, Houston Haag and Scotty Leverett; and the team of Don Lyerly, Bedford Dunavant, Roger Tanner, Robert Huffstutter and John Hale. Poplar Meadows Country Club holds its weekly scramble every Wednesday. The cost to participate is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Receivers, safety waived by Titans NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have waived wide receivers Lavelle Hawkins and Michael Calvin as well as safety Suaesi Tuimaunei. Hawkins, 26, is the most notable of the players waived. The former fourth-round draft pick from California had caught 71 passes for 771 yards and one touchdown in five seasons with the Titans.
